(Worthy News) – Following the 2020 Abraham Accords normalizing diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, an Emirati senior security official has confirmed that Israel helped the UAE to defend itself against a cyber attack and is helping the Gulf state to build a “cyber iron dome,” i24News reports.

In an address to the Cyber Week conference Tel Aviv this week, UAE cyber security head, Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti said: “Israel and its national cyber system helped us repel a DDo denial-of-service cyber attack.”

Al-Kuwaiti went on to say that “The great start-up nation (Israel) and its many companies have helped us and are still helping us to build a cyber iron dome or improve the existing one,” i24News reports.

In a separate statement, Israel’s head of the national cyber system, Gabi Portnoy said that Israel and the UAE, as well as other countries, face “common challenges” in the cyber world.

“The attack surface is expanding with new technologies and the growing motivation of cyber attackers. We must meet the challenges with our partners, using the knowledge we have acquired and new technologies for better and faster protection,” Portnoy explained.

Cooperation between Israel and the UAE since the Abraham Accords includes not only working together on cyber security but also on quantum computing and on booming reciprocal tourism, i24News noted.
