Palestinian militants threaten to “powerful” campaign against Israel on Jerusalem Day

(Worthy News) – Palestinian armed factions have reportedly threatened to attack Israel in a new “powerful campaign” during the Jerusalem Day flag march planned for Thursday, i24News reports. The threats were reported by Arab media just days after a ceasefire ended last week’s round of violence between the Israel Defence Forces and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group in Gaza.
Thursday’s Jerusalem Day flag march is set to include a parade through the Old City’s Muslim quarter in a display of Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem: opponents view this as a provocation.
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that the Palestinian factions stated they could launch a new campaign against Israel to “prevent the change of reality” at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, i24News said.
Al-Akhbar sources said the Palestinian factions also threatened that a new campaign would not be limited to the Gaza front but would be more powerful and have a wider range.
“They also emphasized their alertness regarding any development on the Temple Mount and clarified that the issue of the flag parade in Jerusalem was not addressed in the recent ceasefire,” i24News said in its report.
Concerning a possible attack on Jerusalem Day, a senior IDF officer told i24News: “The more you talk about it, the greater the [likelihood of the] event becomes, without limiting the capacity of our enemies.”
