Russia Threatens Britain Over Missile Pledge To Ukraine

KYIV/LONDON (Worthy News) – Russia has threatened an “adequate military response” after Britain pledged Thursday to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles to use in its battle against invading Russian forces.
Defense Minister Ben Wallace confirmed in Parliament that Britain would donate Storm Shadow missiles with a range of over 250 kilometers (155 miles) each, which could hit targets deeper inside Russia. By contrast, the U.S.-supplied Himars missiles used by Ukraine reportedly range around 80 km (50 miles).
“The donation of these [Storm Shadow] weapons systems gives Ukraine the best chance to defend themselves against Russia’s continued brutality,” Wallace said.
In a reaction, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that if Britain provided the Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, there would be “an adequate response from our military.”
Britain’s missile pledge comes as Ukraine prepares for a counter-offensive backed by Western weapons and expertise.
It would further complicate efforts by Russia’s military, which is already struggling to gain more territory in Ukraine, some 14 months after the Russian invasion began.
Moscow has consistently called its actions a “special military operation,” though Russia’s President Vladimir Putin spoke this week about “a war” with the West over Ukraine.
