Idaho: Satanists protest against bill to criminalize bodily mutilation of children and teens

(Worthy News) – A group of Satanists has announced plans to hold a public protest against an Idaho bill that would criminalize the chemical castration and bodily mutilation of children and teens in the name of gender affirmation, the Christian Post (CP) reports.

Calling themselves “Satanic Idaho,” the protestors are taking a stand against the “Vulnerable Child Protection Act” introduced by Idaho Republican state Rep. Bruce Skaug last week, CP reports.

Skaug’s bill would make it a felony to dispense experimental puberty blockers and perform sex-change operations on youth; offenders would face up to 10 years imprisonment, CP reports. The bill must pass both houses of the state Legislature before it can be signed into law by Idaho Gov. Brad Little.

Responding to the proposed legislation, the Satanists are planning to hold a protest by way of a “Gender-Affirmation Ritual” at the Idaho Capitol Building Rotunda on February 13, CP reports. “Satanic Idaho” is promoting the “Hail Yourself: Gender Affirmation Ritual” to “remind [Idahoans] that not everyone uses religion to condemn, but to accept,” the group said on social media.

According to the Satanic Temple website, “gender-affirming rituals” are intended to “dispel any shame or stigma surrounding one’s gender identity due to religious discrimination or cultural ignorance,” CP said.
