(Worthy News) – Christian communities in Nigeria’s Adamawa state are deeply mourning the loss of Pastor Jerry Hinjari of Christ Nation International, who was murdered by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Thursday, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. The slaughter of tens of thousands of Christians in Nigeria at the hands of Islamic terrorists has gone unchecked by the Nigerian government and the international community for many years now.
Widely known locally as a humanitarian, compassionate servant of God, Pastor Jerry was abducted from his home in Yola, Adamawa state, at around midnight on Wednesday, MSN said. His body was discovered by the side of a road in the city on Thursday.
“Pastor Jerry Hinjari was kidnapped on Jan. 25, and his remains were discovered the following day,” Yahaya Nguroje, spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, said in a statement. “The commissioner of police, Sikiru Akande, has ordered an investigation to unravel those behind the dastardly act. We assure the good people of the state that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.”
In a statement to MSN, Resident Elijah Sambo said about Pastor Hinjari: “He was passionate about the work of God, a philanthropist and humanitarian who was well known for his diverse service to God and to humanity.”
In a separate statement, local resident Trixyl Golfa said: “The killing of apostle Jerry Hinjari is too heavy a pain to bear. His demise is a major loss to the body of Christ in the northeast region of Nigeria. His murder came to us all as a shock. He fought a good fight, leaving behind many disciples.”
