(Worthy News) – Palestinian militant groups are preparing for new rounds of violent conflict with Israel this year as part of their resistance to the new “fascist and racist” right-wing Israeli government, Israel National News (INN) reports.

According to a report published Monday by Lebanese news outlet Al-Akhbar, Palestinian militants recently held meetings in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip to discuss how to confront Israel’s new ruling coalition, which includes far-right, controversial cabinet ministers. The new Israeli government has recently aired the possibility of changing the status quo to allow Jews to pray on the Temple Mount, and has announced plans to expand Jewish settlement in the contested West Bank.

Affiliated with the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, the Al-Akhbar news outlet quoted a Palestinian source as saying that assessments were made at the Gaza meetings that “the Netanyahu government will lead to an explosion which means an almost certain confrontation in several arenas, including the Gaza Strip.”

Moreover, the Al-Akhbar report said, the Palestinian militants determined to prepare for new rounds of conflict to “prevent Israel from violating the existing situation in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, or from taking dramatic measures in regards to prisoners, the situation of the Palestinians or annexation of Judea and Samaria.”

In a statement to Al-Akhbar, a Hamas spokesman said: “Hamas recently warned the mediators against Israel crossing the red lines and committing new crimes against the Palestinian people, as it says these will lead to an explosion of the situation and a deterioration in the entire region.”
