Iranian mullah visits Israel for secret meeting with senior officials

(Worthy News) – The i24NEWS media outlet reported exclusively Monday that an Iranian Shiite mullah recently went to Israel for a secret meeting with officials close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Confirming that the mullah in question is a well-known strong critic of Iran’s authoritarian, violent, extremist Islamic rulers, i24NEWS said his name is known but is not being given for security reasons. i24NEWS did mention that the mullah has often appeared as a guest at right-wing events in the US.
‘Mullah’ is an honorific title for Muslim clergy or the leader of a Mosque; the term is also used for Muslims with higher education in Islamic theology and law. The mullah who visited Israel is a former student of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, i24NEWS said.
Since Iran’s 1979 revolution, and to this day, successive Iranian regimes have threatened to destroy Israel. According to i24NEWS, there are concerns for the mullah’s safety if it becomes known he visited Israel.
In its report, i24NEWS said a source close to Netanyahu confirmed the meeting with the mullah had taken place. Moreover, the news outlet said, “in a conversation with i24NEWS, the mullah did not deny the visit and noted his friendship with an official close to the [Israeli] prime minister.”
