(Worthy News) – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that the Israeli government will resist any effort by Iran to establish a military base along Israel’s border with Syria and Lebanon, i24 News reports.

Netanyahu gave his warning during a tour of Israel’s Northern Command on Tuesday after receiving a situational briefing by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

“We will remind those who need to be reminded of our red lines on this matter,” Netanyahu asserted on Tuesday.

“The main enemy we face is the terrorist regime in Iran and its entrenchment in Syria and Lebanon,” Netanyahu said. “We are determined to fight Iran’s attempts to develop a nuclear arsenal,” Netanyahu emphasized.

“We are determined to fight any attempt by Iran to establish a base against us on our northern military border in Syria.”

Gallant has added that Israel will block Iran from transferring weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon, i24 reports. “Peace in the north is an important goal,” Gallant said in a statement.

Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters Tuesday that he will be discussing the threat of Iran with Netanyahu during his upcoming visit to Israel.

“We’ll have the opportunity to engage deeply with the new Israeli government on the threat posed by Iran,” Sullivan said. “We will work through any differences we have on tactics the same way that we have over the course of the past two years.”

Netanyahu has been at odds with the US Democratic party in his vociferous condemnation of the collapsed 2015 Iran nuclear deal, but in a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on Monday, he emphasized the need for Israeli-US cooperation over the Iranian threat, i24 reports.
