(Worthy News) – A Christian couple leading an urban church ministry in Buffalo, New York, gave shelter to 154 people during the historic deadly blizzard which tore into the area over the 2022 Christmas weekend, the Roys Report said.
Al and Vivian Robinson, pastors of the Spirit of Truth Urban Ministry, said Jesus’ love compelled them to reach out and help as many people as possible during the devastating snowstorm which killed 40 people.
As Accuweather reported, the storm “unleashed its full fury on Buffalo, generating a historic lake-effect snow event with hurricane-force winds and whiteout conditions,” the Robinsons took to social media, telling anyone who needed it to come to their church building for food and shelter.
The Robinsons first laid at the disposal of those in need all the food they had bought and stored to feed their family of nine for two weeks, Roys said. Then, the local community began to bring in supplies.
On December 26, Vivian posted: “I want to thank everyone for their amazing support, donation, and love in the Blizzard of 2022. At first, we were able to cook and serve over 120+ people out of our home refrigerator, two loaves, and five fish. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, comforters, sheets, pillows, and more for the Lord’s people.
We just [fed] more families today before they left. I am happy in my heart that the Lord trusted us with all of these lives.”
In a statement to ChurchLeaders, Al said people of all ages needed their help, including a nine-month-old baby who needed formula and a 92-year-old who needed oxygen.
“His love compelled us to take that additional step to reach out for that one more person in the sea, that one more life; it was incredible,” Al said. “I don’t even know how I was able to accomplish all of this without saying it was God [who] did it all. He really did it all.”
