(Worthy News) – A new poll by Pew research shows that half of self-professed U.S. Christians, and 39% of all Americans – religious or otherwise – believe “we are living in the End Times,” the Christian Post (CP) reports.
The poll found that 49% of Christians believe we are living in the End Times, CP reports. Forty-seven percent of Christians said they do not believe we are at the end of days, but 20% of these respondents said Jesus will return as conditions in the world get worse.
According to the poll, large majorities of black Protestants (76%) and Evangelicals (63%) believe the days we are living in are the End Times, CP reports.
However, only twenty-seven percent of Catholics said these are the End Times.
The poll found that 77% of Evangelicals and 54% of Protestants believe that “the world is currently living in the ‘End Times’ as described by prophecies in the Bible,” CP reports.
While religiously unaffiliated U.S. adults and Americans of non-Christian religious faiths are less likely to believe we are in the End Times, more than one in five of each category of participants do believe so, the poll found. Moreover, 29% of people from non-Christian backgrounds believe we are at the end of days.
