Trump Again Running For President Despite Controversies

PALM BEACH, USA (Worthy News) – Donald J. Trump announced Tuesday night that he was running for president in 2024 to recapture the White House after raising doubts that he lost the 2020 election.
“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said before an audience of several hundred supporters in a chandeliered ballroom at his Mar-a-Lago club.
American flags flanked Trump, and banners bearing his “Make America Great Again” slogan.
He said he would push through an aggressively conservative agenda that includes executing people convicted of selling drugs.
His speech, which clocked in at more than an hour, was also a mix of boasts about his presidential record and attacks on the first two years of Joe Biden’s presidency.
“America’s comeback starts right now,” he said, formally beginning the 2024 Republican primary.
POLITICAL CHALLENGES
Critics said Trump enters the race in a moment of profound political vulnerability after many of the candidates he endorsed lost in the recent midterm elections.
Democrats kept the Senate, and Republicans are on a path to only a bare majority in the House of Representatives, despite Trump’s rallies.
Opponents also said he faces an uphill battle as a presidential candidate who made history for being the first president to be impeached twice.
His term ended with rioters claiming to be his supporters violently storming the Capitol in a deadly bid to challenge the election results.
AMERICA’S COMEBACK?
Yet the 76-year-old Trump seemed confident he could win. “America’s comeback starts right now,” he said, formally beginning what will be his third run for president.
“We are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation for millions of Americans,” Trump said in a speech at his private Florida club.
He attacked President Joe Biden’s record in his first two years in office. “I will ensure Joe Biden does not receive four more years.”
Trump filed papers with the Federal Election Commission earlier Tuesday night in which he declared himself a candidate for the presidency and established a new campaign committee.
“This campaign will be about issues, vision, and success, and we will not stop, we will not quit, until we’ve achieved the highest goals and made our country greater than it has ever been before,” Trump said.
He defended his plan to ask for the execution of drug dealers, copying the playbook from the Philippines’ previous hardline President, Rodrigo Duterte, who left office on June 30 after six years in power.
DRUG CARTELS
“Since the end of the Trump administration, the drug cartels have seen their revenue skyrocket by an astounding — listen to this one, you businesspeople, you think you’re good at business, you’re nothing compared to these people — 2,500 percent,” he said.
Trump barely mentioned the 2020 presidential race. He did also not bring up two separate impeachment trials.
The first one was for allegedly leveraging U.S. foreign aid to extort Ukraine into investigating the Biden family, charges he vehemently denied.
The second trial was for his alleged d role in the January 6 attack on the Capitol in Washington D.C.
Trump’s election campaign was expected to be closely watched in Europe, including in Hungary, where the rightwing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán considers himself a Trump friend.
Both have expressed similar conservative views against abortion and support Christians and Israel. They also share anti-migration opinions. Even before Trump began building a wall near Mexico, Orbán had already created a massive anti-migration fence along Serbia’s border following Europe’s refugee crisis in 2015.
