Republicans Seek To Take Congress As Christians Pray

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – U.S. Senate incumbents, including Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and senior Republican John Thune, won re-election in Tuesday’s U.S. midterm elections during heightened political and social turmoil.
The results were announced as Democratic hopes of retaining control of the U.S. House and Senate hung in the balance Tuesday night.
Commentators said Republicans were due to take control of the U.S. Congress away from U.S. President Joe Biden, who faces mounting public discontent over the 40-year-high cost of living.
Biden’s hopes of a swift rebound next year are clouded by growing fears of a recession and doubts about his presidency.
Democrats’ efforts to focus the election on challenging the Supreme Court’s overturning the right to an abortion didn’t pay off, with voters saying, “it’s the economy, stupid.”
The outcome was expected to make it difficult for Biden to push his agenda in the remaining two years of his current presidential term through a hyper-partisan Congress.
MILLIONS CAST BALLOTS
Millions of Americans also cast their votes in key races for governor, Secretary of State, and other offices, including by mail and in person.
Tuesday’s midterm elections marked the first national vote since previous President Donald J. Trump questioned the results of the 2020 presidential race.
The Democratic-controlled Congress later accepted the results, rejecting Trump’s allegations of massive voting fraud, allowing Biden to become America’s 46th president.
As the counting of ballots was still underway, church and government leaders were invited to convene for prayer for the destiny of the “Office of the Presidency” and the United States.
In a statement sent to Worthy News, organizers said the prayer breakfast on November 19 at the Hilton Airport Palm Beach in Florida would likely be attended by former President Trump and other public figures.
“This is a tipping point for the nation as we unify to believe for spiritual awakening,” said hostess Merrie Turner.
WORSHIP LEADERS
Among other special guests are “worship director Jim Cernero of Benny Hinn Ministries, Nathan French, vocal artist Sarah Wallace, Brian Valley, and others,” organizers said.
“President Donald Trump and Governor DeSantis are among the invited guests,” said the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast Inc. group.
President Trump reportedly said, “in God we trust. As long as we have God, we are never, ever alone… God will always give us solace and strength and comfort.”
The Inaugural Prayer Breakfast, traditionally held in Washington, DC, on Presidential Inauguration mornings, was founded by Reverend Ruth Heflin in 1992.
This month’s prayer event is in addition to the other breakfast gathering.
