Biden Pressures Supreme Court On Abortion After Leak; Investigation Order

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – American President Joe Biden pressured the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday, saying “basic fairness” demands that Roe v. Wade be upheld and urged voters to elect more abortion rights supporters to Congress.
His statement came after a leaked draft opinion suggested the Supreme Court is prepared to overturn Roe versus Wade, the 1973 case that led to a constitutional right to have an abortion. “At the federal level, we will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House,” Biden said, referring to pro-abortion legislators.
Biden, a professing Catholic who supports abortion rights despite Church concerns, wants Congress to “adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law.”
Soon after Biden’s remarks, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said in a statement that the leaked draft opinion that proposes overturning Roe v. Wade is authentic but not final. He also ordered an investigation into how it became public. “ To the extent, this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed,” Roberts said. “The work of the Court will not be affected in any way.”
The document, suggesting a majority opinion of America’s top court, also led to other angry reactions, including from Bill Gates, the abortion advocate billionaire, and philanthropist.
Gates, whose foundation supports the Parenthood Federation of America providing abortion services, claimed that a reversal of Roe v. Wade would “set us back 50 years”.

He added that “vulnerable women” will be impacted the most.
Yet, anti-abortion activists dispute that claim saying “vulnerable women” are often pressured and not told about care homes or adoption possibilities
The activists who view themselves as “pro-life” are expressing cautious optimism that the Court is on the verge of pushing decisions about the legality of the procedure to the states.
Abortion rights supporters — including the president and top Democrats in Congress — say women could soon “be stripped of rights” in place for a half-century.
Soon after the leaked document suggested Roe versus Wade could be overturned, crowds gathered to protest outside the Supreme Court.
Then-President Donald J. Trump appointed conservative judges who seemed willing to change the relatively easy access to abortion in the United States.
