Israel asks Christian organization to help urgently evacuate Ukraine Jews from Russian invasion

(Worthy News) – The Jewish Agency for Israel has asked the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) for assistance in the urgent evacuation of Ukrainian Jews to Israel as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues. Based in Jerusalem, the ICEJ has been helping to facilitate Jewish “Aliyah” (immigration to Israel) from Ukraine for almost 40 years.
There are an estimated 45,000 Jews in Ukraine, with some 200,000 people eligible to immigrate to Israel as descendants and relatives of Jewish people. The Israeli government has announced that Ukrainian Jews have a home in Israel and has been working on evacuation and immigration plans.
Writing on the ICEJ website, David Parsons, ICEJ VP & Senior Int. Spokesman explains: “The sharp escalation of the Ukraine conflict is an unfolding tragedy, but it also presents Christians who love Israel with an opportunity to help Jewish communities fleeing the fighting in Ukraine,” Parsons said.
The Jewish Agency For Israel has asked the ICEJ to “help with their urgent plans to evacuate imperiled Jewish families from Ukraine and fly them to Israel,” Parsons said. Moreover, Parsons stipulated, funds are urgently needed for the following three categories of need: 1) Evacuation and Shelter; 2) Rescue Flights; 3) Emergency Housing and Care in Israel.
Closing with a request for prayer, Parsons added: “Keep in mind that these evacuation efforts will be difficult and even dangerous for those involved. So, please be praying for divine protection over the Israeli and JAFI representatives, and all the local Jewish and Christian volunteer workers on the ground in Ukraine, as well as the Jewish families themselves as they make their way to Israel.”
