‘Russian Mercenaries Try Killing Ukraine’s President’

KYIV (Worthy News) – More than 400 Russian mercenaries are reportedly in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv with orders from the Kremlin to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky and his government and prepare the ground for Moscow to take control.
A U.S. security official told Worthy News earlier that the Wagner Group was in Ukraine to prepare “false flag operations” to spark the invasion.
British media are now reporting that the private militia run by one of President Vladimir Putin’s closest allies and operating as an arm-length branch of the state flew in mercenaries from Africa five weeks ago.
Their mission is to decapitate Zelensky’s government in return for a handsome financial bonus, The Times newspaper said.
Ukrainian President Zelensky suggested last week he may not be alive to see what he publicly believes will be his nation’s eventual victory over Russia.
Last week he told European counterparts, “this might be the last time you see me alive” during a video conference. He said Russian “sabotage forces” are hunting for him and his family in Kyiv. U.S. intelligence says a priority of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is to “decapitate” its government.
Information about their mission reached the Ukrainian government on Saturday morning, several sources said.
Hours later, Kyiv declared a 36-hour “hard” curfew “to sweep the city for Russian saboteurs,” warning civilians that they would be seen as Kremlin agents and risked being “liquidated” if they stepped outside.
Despite the dangers, Zelensky vowed to stay in the country and declined to be evacuated by the United States from Kyiv. “What I need is ammunition, not a ride,” he reportedly said.
