Winter Storm Landon Spreading a 2,000 Mile-Long Mess of Heavy Snow, Ice From Texas to the Midwest and Northeast
(Worthy News) – Winter Storm Landon is underway with a widespread mess of snow, sleet and freezing rain spreading from the Rockies to the Plains, Midwest and parts of the Northeast through Friday. The storm will create major travel headaches and could have ice accumulations heavy enough to knock out power and cause tree damage.
Landon is producing snowfall and a narrow band of freezing rain and sleet across a broad area from Colorado and New Mexico to the Great Lakes right now. The wintry weather will only get more widespread as colder air helps change rain to snow and ice in areas farther south along the path of the storm.
Travel will become hazardous because of snow, sleet and/or freezing rain on one or multiple days in these regions through the end of the week. Areas that see significant icing could have at least some power outages and tree damage, especially from parts of north-central Texas and eastern Oklahoma into the Ozarks and portions of the lower Mississippi and Ohio valleys.
