‘Moment of Crisis’ in Eastern Europe: Biden and Putin to Speak Again; Second Time in Three Weeks
(Worthy News) – As a year marked by a late escalation in tensions between Moscow and the West draws to a close, Presidents Biden and Vladimir Putin will speak by phone on Thursday, amid the Kremlin’s stepped-up demands for an end to what it sees as threats posed by NATO.
“Russia has put its concerns on the table and we are prepared to discuss them,” a senior administration official said in a background briefing on the call. “The United States and our allies and partners will put our concerns on the table and expect Russia to be prepared to discuss them as well.”

Satellite images track new Russian military deployments near Ukraine
Satellite images released Dec. 23 offer new details about additional troops and military equipment which have been stationed near the Russia-Ukraine border since October amid growing tensions between the two nations.
The images, captured by satellite imagery company Maxar Technologies, show the troop buildup, including units newly moved to the border areas. The satellite imagery reveal the military developments and cites several new Russian deployments in Crimea and in western Russia near the Ukraine border. One image shows what is believed to be a new unit in a training area near the town of Valuyki, Russia, which is 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) north of the Russia-Ukraine border.
