(Worthy News) – Evangelist Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. has just launched Speak for Life, an organization that will offer pro-life curriculums to after-school clubs and Sunday schools, Christian Headlines reports. King attests that she was pro-choice, and had had an abortion, before she came to faith in Christ in 1983.

Having become a Christian, King was convicted of the need to preserve life, and to teach the sanctity of life to children and youth, CH reports. Indeed, King attests she is alive today because her mother was persuaded not to have an abortion.

“I was rescued from abortion myself in 1950 when my mom was pregnant with me, and my grandfather convinced her to have me,” King said in an interview with the Christian Post.

As part of the program offered by Speak for Life, students will be shown ultrasound images of the unborn and will be asked to consider when life begins. “As [the ultrasound] unfolds, you might see that conception, which is spectacular. It’s just beautiful,” King told Christian Post. “You see the baby unfolding. And then [we] say, ‘When is the baby, a baby?’ You let the students begin to answer, but you have the science there.”

Students will be encouraged to fully engage with the subject, including discussing it in groups and making videos or writing posts for publication on social media platforms, CH said.

“The little babies in the womb are people. Once they’re born, they begin to grow. We become adults,” King says. “Sometimes we’re sick or elderly, or so many things can occur in life. But human dignity must exist, from the womb to the tomb and everything between.”
