Mass Shooting Takes Place in Britain, Six Killed

(Worthy News) – Britain’s interior minister urged people to remain calm after a mass shooting killed six people, including the suspected gunman in the southwest city of Plymouth.
Home Secretary Priti Patel also said that residents in the area should listen to police instructions. “The incident in Plymouth is shocking, and my thoughts are with those affected,” she said.
Three men, including the alleged shooter and two women, were found dead by police at the scene. Another woman later died in hospital, officials said.
The shooting happened just after 6:00 pm local time on Thursday, with police saying it was “not an act of terror.” They were not looking for anyone else connected to the attack.
Sharron Turner, who lives behind the shooting scene, told media a gunman had “kicked in” the front door of a semidetached house before shooting. Turner, 57, said she had been told that the man, dressed in black and grey, was armed with a semi-automatic weapon.
The gunman then escaped through a park behind the house. “We heard a number of loud bangs which I said sounded like gunshots,” Turner reportedly said. “Then he ran into the park, and there were further shots.”
More details about the gunman or his motive were not immediately available, but the police said they were investigating.
Britain has strict rules on gun ownership and reportedly has one of the lowest rates for gun killings in the world.
Gun regulations were tightened further after a man with the legal right to own a firearm burst into a primary school in the Scottish town of Dunblane in 1996. He opened fire on children and teachers, killing 17 people.
