(Worthy News) – A poll carried out by Rasmussen Reports earlier this month has found that a large majority of likely American voters think it is at least somewhat important for children to learn “traditional values of Western Civilization” in school.

Conducted on July 6, 2021, with 1,000 participants, the poll found that 78% of Likely US Voters think it is “Somewhat Important” for schools to teach traditional western values, including 52% who said it is “Very Important.” According to Rasmussen Reports, this finding “is virtually unchanged from four years ago, and in line with surveys dating back to 2013.”

In a separate report about the poll and its findings, Just the News noted that the Rasmussen Reports survey was conducted “amid recent efforts in some school districts across the country to include critical race theory in their curriculum.”

Despite the publicity being given to this academic theory, there remains confusion as to what it entails. “Critical race theory is a practice. It’s an approach to grappling with a history of white supremacy that rejects the belief that what’s in the past is in the past, and that the laws and systems that grow from that past are detached from it, Kimberlé Crenshaw, a founding critical race theorist and a law professor at UCLA and Columbia University has explained in a statement.
