Nigeria: Islamist Fulani militants murder 33 Christians in one week; “please pray”

(Worthy News) – Thirty-three Christians were killed in just one week of attacks by suspected Islamist Fulani militants in Nigeria’s Benue state last month, International Christian Concern reports. The murders were among the latest in years of deadly attacks on Nigerian Christian communities by Fulani militants who want to eliminate Christianity and impose Islam in the country.
Six Christians were slaughtered during April 21 attacks by Fulani herdsmen on Tse-Zoola village in Makurdi, Odugbeho in Agatu and Mbayer-Yandev in Guma, ICC reports.
A further 17 believers were murdered during a raid on five Christian communities by a different group of Fulani militants on April 24 in Guma County, ICC said. Then, on April 26, ten Christians were murdered in an Internal Displacement camp.
According to ICC, the Fulani Militia is the fourth most dangerous terrorist group in the world, and poses an even greater threat to Nigerian Christians than ISIS/Boko Haram does. Moreover, to the frustration of citizens and rights groups, the Nigerian government has been unable or unwilling to deal with the devastating Fulani campaigns against civilians.
In its report, ICC asked for prayer into the situation: “Please pray for peace in Nigeria, and for the Lord to comfort those grieving the loss of loved ones due to violence. Please also pray for the perpetrators of this attack, that they will be blessed with knowing the truth of the gospel and accept Jesus as their Savior.”
