US urges ‘serious consequences’ for Syria’s Assad over chemical weapons use: envoy

(Worthy News) – The UN National Security Council must hold the regime of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad accountable for the use of chemical weapons, US envoy to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said Thursday.
In her remarks at the UNSC briefing on Syria, she lambasted Damascus over seeking to avoid responsibility for its acts by jeopardizing independent probes, including by the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
She also singled out Russia, Assad’s key ally in the long-running conflict, over assisting Syria’s leader in such efforts. [ Source: i24 (Read More…) ]
