(Worthy News) – Donald J. Trump became the first president in US history to be impeached twice and is now facing a Senate trial over the Capitol riots that sparked outrage across America.

The announcement came as Trump was increasingly isolated after the YouTube video-sharing service became the latest social media platform banning him.

The Google-owned service prevented him from uploading new videos or live-streaming material for a minimum of seven days and warned it might extend the period. YouTube said the channel had broken its rules over Trump’s alleged incitement of violence.

Social networking giants Twitter and Facebook were among other platforms preventing President Trump to reach his millions of followers.

Unable to challenge developments unfiltered on social media, Trump watched at the sidelines as the House voted Wednesday to impeach him.

‘INCITING VIOLENCE’

Trump faced the unprecedented second-time impeachment on a charge of “inciting violence” against the U.S. government.

In a setback for the president, even Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell left open the possibility of voting to convict Trump at a trial.

During debate on the Democratic-led House floor, House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Trump “bears responsibility” for last week’s violent takeover of the Capitol.

But he argued against impeachment so close to the end of his term. Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi disagreed. She called Trump “a clear and present danger” and said, “he must go.”

In a statement issued during the House debate, Trump called for “no violence, no lawbreaking and no vandalism” amid reports of possible additional unrest.

PENCE PRESSURED

The House began the impeachment procedure Tuesday, urging Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to use their powers under the 25th Amendment to remove Trump immediately.

Pence warned Congress he would not do that. Declared President-elect Joe Biden, who takes office next week, announced no public events Wednesday while Trump’s impeachment was debated.

Amid the turmoil, some 15,000 members of the National Guard are in Washington D.C. to support Inauguration Day security in Washington, U.S. officials said.

That could increase the total to at least 20,000 in a rapidly swelling security apparatus focused on the Capitol, observers said.
