US Attorney-General Barr Abandoning President Trump

(Worthy News) – U.S. Attorney General William Barr has turned his back on embattled President Donald J. Trump by declining to appoint a special counsel to investigate the president’s claims of massive voter fraud during the 2020 election.
He stressed he saw ‘no basis’ for seizing voting machines, despite reports that they may have been tampered with to favor Biden in the November 3 poll.
Barr also refused to name a special counsel for the tax investigation of declared President-elect Joe Biden’s son.
He announced his final public appearance as a member of Trump’s Cabinet. “I have not seen a reason to appoint a special counsel, and I have no plan to do so before I leave,” Barr stressed.
A special counsel would make it more difficult for Biden and his yet-to-be-named attorney general to close investigations begun under Trump.
Critics say such an appointment could add legitimacy to Trump supporters who say the election was stolen.
ELECTION STOLEN?
Barr also confirmed that federal officials believe Russia was behind a massive hack of U.S. government agencies, not China, as the president suggested.
The U.S attorney general leaves the Justice Department this week after transforming from one of Trump’s most loyal allies into an official willing to contradict the president openly.
That’s been especially true since the recent election, with Barr claiming in an interview with The Associated Press that he saw no evidence of widespread voting fraud.
That put him on a collision course with Trump, who reported massive voter fraud.
The president has also been angered that Barr didn’t announce the existence of a two-year-old investigation of Hunter Biden before the election. It was also the main reason why Barr stepped down
On Monday, the outgoing attorney general said the probe was “being handled responsibly and professionally.”
