(Worthy News) – Congress prepared to vote for a $2.3 trillion rescue package, the most extensive in U.S. history.

The measures include $900 billion coronavirus relief and 1.4 trillion government spending, according to the legislation text released Monday.

The bill, with some 5,593 pages the most expensive, will see coronavirus related support such as a $300 weekly unemployment supplement, $600 direct payments to Americans. There is also $300 billion reserved for the Paycheck Protection Program loans and more than $8 billion for vaccine distribution.

Some economists and lawmakers claim even more than the difficult-to-print amount is needed to curb the damage households and small businesses suffered during the pandemic.

Democrats had already stressed they would push for another aid package if and when declared President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20.

The badly needed aid comes as millions of Americans reportedly struggle to pay for food and housing. They face the potential loss of unemployment benefits and eviction protections in the coming days.
