Britain Moves Closer To Obligatory COVID-19 Vaccines

(Worthy News) – Britain came one step closer Tuesday to effectively forcing its citizens to take a coronavirus vaccine if they want their lives back.
Those who refuse a vaccine for COVID-19 could find normal life curtailed as restaurants, bars, cinemas, and sports venues could block entry. Only people who prove they are inoculated could enter these facilities, Britain’s new vaccine minister said on Monday.
The British minister responsible for vaccines, Nadhim Zahawi, said getting vaccinated should be “voluntary.” However, that seemed impossible under his plans.
He also said that tech giants Google, Facebook, and Twitter should do more to fact-check “opposing” views on vaccines’.
Asked by the BBC network if there would be an immunity passport, Zahawi warned that a person’s COVID-19 vaccine status might be included in a phone app. That would inform local doctors of a person’s status. “But also, I think you’d probably find that restaurants and bars and cinemas and other venues, sports venues, will probably also use that system as they’ve done with the app,” Zahawi told the BBC.
GROWING PRESSURE
“The sort of pressure will come both ways: from service providers – who will say ‘look, demonstrate to us that you have been vaccinated.’ But also, we will make the technology as easy and accessible as possible,” the minister said.
He also made clear that he opposes those criticizing vaccines saying the message should be that the vaccines are suitable for everyone.
His comments came as other countries in Europe face similar challenges amid a growing anti-vaccine movement.
Dr. Michael Yeadon, a former Vice President and Chief Scientist for the Pfizer pharmaceutical company, also rejected the need for any vaccines to bring the COVID-19 pandemic to an end.
NO NEED?
Dr. Yeadon, who spent “over 30 years leading new [allergy and respiratory] medicines research in some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies,” including Pfizer, wrote: “There is absolutely no need for vaccines to extinguish the pandemic.”
He added in his article: “I’ve never heard such nonsense talked about vaccines. You do not vaccinate people who aren’t at risk from a disease. You also don’t set about planning to vaccinate millions of fit and healthy people with a vaccine that hasn’t been extensively tested on human subjects.”
At least some other scientists suggested it could impact the bodies of healthy people. “By making precise tweaks to synthetic mRNA and injecting people with it, any cell in the body could be transformed into an on-demand drug factory,” reported STAT, the investigative health news service.
“There are about a dozen experimental vaccines in late-stage clinical trials globally, but the ones being tested by [pharmaceutical firms] Pfizer and Moderna are the only two that rely on messenger RNA. For decades, scientists have dreamed about the seemingly endless possibilities of custom-made messenger RNA or mRNA,” STAT commented.
However, on Tuesday, the European Medicines Agency its experts had received enough data from drugmakers Pfizer and Moderna about their candidate vaccines against the coronavirus. The agency said it would complete its reviews by December 29 and January 12, respectively, at the latest.
Earlier on Tuesday, the companies said they had submitted approval requests for their vaccine candidates to the European drugs regulator. But British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he hopes regulators would approve vaccines by Christmas.
