Pope Francis accuses lockdown protesters of turning ‘personal freedom’ into an ‘ideology’ in Thanksgiving op-ed
(Worthy News) – Pope Francis urged people to put others before themselves as the world struggles to come out of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a lengthy op-ed for the New York Times, the pope wrote of his own personal health battles when he was young and called on people to come together in the midst of the global pandemic. He criticized those who have been vocal in opposing government decisions related to lockdowns to help corral the virus.
“Governments have made great efforts to put the well-being of their people first, acting decisively to protect health and to save lives,” the pope wrote. “Yet some groups protested, refusing to keep their distance, marching against travel restrictions — as if measures that governments must impose for the good of their people constitute some kind of political assault on autonomy or personal freedom! Looking to the common good is much more than the sum of what is good for individuals.” [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]
