Trump lawyers ready for legal battle after the election

(Worthy News) – President Trump has said his lawyers will be ready to take legal action if the results of the November 3 election are not known by the next day, the Washington Examiner reports. Speaking to reporters on the campaign trail Sunday, the president said: “We’re going to go in night of, as soon as the election is over, we’re going in with our lawyers.” The COVID-19 pandemic has caused numerous states to extend the period they will accept ballots after Election Day.
Although he dismissed as false the reports that he would declare an early victory on election night, President Trump said it “wasn’t fair” that the results may not be immediately known because votes have yet to be counted, the Washington Examiner said.
The president went on to reference the Supreme Court rulings that permit Pennsylvania and North Carolina to count absentee ballots postmarked before Election Day but which arrive shortly after November 3: “I think it was a terrible decision for our country. And I think it was a very dangerous decision for our country,” he said.
“Because you’re going to have one or two or three states, depending on how it ends up, where they’re tabulating ballots and the rest of the world is waiting to find out,” the president continued. “And I think there’s great danger to it, and I think a lot of fraud and misuse can take place. I think it’s a terrible decision by the Supreme Court. A terrible decision.”
In 34 states mail-in ballots may not be counted until Election Day, the Washington Examiner reports. Moreover, 17 of those states are prohibited from starting the vote count until after polls have closed.
