(Worthy News) – According to a survey conducted for the Shiloh Policy Forum, US President Trump’s Mideast peace plan would place hundreds of Jewish archaeological sites inside a future Palestinian state, CBN News reports. Among the sites concerned are Shiloh and an ancient synagogue discovered in Shomron, the Biblical capital of the northern Kingdom of Israel.

Conducted by Preserving the Eternal, a group that works to “protect antiquities in Israel and Judea and Samaria,” the survey found that 135 out of 365 major Israeli heritage sites would be transferred to Palestinian control. The survey was carried out using a map published by Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

“During some of the most important historical periods in the region, Iron Age II, Second Temple, and Byzantine eras, this area was inhabited by Jewish people, and many sites are part of the Jewish heritage,” Dr. Dvir Raviv of Bar-Ilan University told the Jerusalem Post.

“Preserving them is essential not only from the Jewish point of view but also for the world, without forgetting that they are also very important in the Christian tradition.”
While some are concerned the sites would be damaged or destroyed if they left Israel, supporters of Trump’s plan believe that discussions between Israeli and Palestinian leaders can ensure their safety and preservation.

In any event, the transfer of sites would only happen if the Palestinian Authority accepts Trump’s plan: so far the Palestinians have completely rejected it.
