Sanhedrin petitions Israeli government to perform Passover sacrifice — Rabbis hopeful

(Worthy News) – The Sanhedrin is anxiously awaiting a response from the Israeli government about whether it will be able to perform the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount for the first time since the second temple in the first century AD.
Shimshon Elboim, head of the Temple Mount Organizations, submitted a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking for permission for the Aaronic priests to be allowed to perform the korban Pesach on its appointed site Wednesday evening, according to Breaking Israel News.
“The project is of the utmost importance for all of mankind,” spokesman for the Sanhedrin Rabbi Hillel Weiss told BIN, observing that the original Passover was designed to avert the final Egyptian plague or נֶגֶף (negef: disease).
The Health Ministry rejected earlier requests by the Sanhedrin to perform the ritual with a real lamb as unsanitary and a health hazard, but rabbis and proponents of reinstituting the Passover sacrifice were heartened by a government response they said they had not seen before.
“Usually, this type of request is rejected out of hand,” Elboim told BIN. “We were pleasantly surprised when we were informed that the request was forwarded to Gilad Erdan, the Internal Security Minister in charge of what happens on the Temple Mount.”
Many rabbis are also pointing to the text of the “Deal of the Century” engineered by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and released several months ago as a green light, as it provides for Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount.
“People of every faith should be permitted to pray on the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif, in a manner that is fully respectful to their religion, taking into account the times of each religion’s prayers and holidays, as well as other religious factors,” the document reads.
Biblical scholars understand from the texts of Daniel 9:27, Daniel 12:11 and 2 Thessalonians 2 that a third temple in Jerusalem will be the site of a terrible sacrilege, foreshadowed but exceeded by the institution of pig sacrifices to pagan gods in the second temple by Antiochus Epiphanes.
