Hospital Ship Rushing To New York Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

(Worthy News) – The world’s biggest hospital ship, the USNS Comfort, arrives in New York on Monday to support medical workers fighting the new coronavirus pandemic.
Over the weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump visited Norfolk, Virginia to see off the Navy’s massive USNS Comfort. “This great ship behind me is a 70,000-ton message of hope and solidarity to the incredible people of New York. A place I know very well, a place I love,” he told reporters.
The USNS Comfort, with its 12 operating rooms, 1,000 beds, and up to 1,200 doctors, nurses and specialists, will be used to treat patients not infected with the new virus COVID-19. Medics hope the ship will free up much-needed hospital space for infected patients in New York City.
Trump said the USNS Comfort would “join the ranks of tens of thousands of amazing doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who are battling to save American lives.”
It is the second time in nearly two decades that the white converted supertanker emblazoned with its giant red crosses rushes to the Big Apple. It was earlier used to save lives in New York after the September 11 terror attacks in 2001.
