Half a trillion dollars devoted to checks for individual Americans in proposed Trump stimulus package
(Worthy News) – President Trump Thursday continued to negotiate a one trillion dollar stimulus package for the economy that would see half a trillion dollars sent out to individual Americans within nine weeks.
The planned response by the Trump administration would be the third by the government so far to combat novel coronavirus after Trump invoked the Defense Production Act allocating $8.3 to FEMA and activating it in every area of the country and signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
“This is an unprecedented situation, where for good reason the government has instructed major parts of the economy to close down so that we can win this fight against this virus,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told Fox Business News. “While we’re doing that, we understand there are impacts on hard-working Americans, and the president is determined to support them.”
In addition to giving $1,000 to every adult American and $500 to every dependent in their household, the bill would devote $300 billion to small businesses and $200 billion to airlines and other industries affected by travel restrictions because of the virus.
