(Worthy News) – The city of San Francisco and the states of Washington and Ohio will place a ban on significant gatherings of people in an effort to stem the tide of coronavirus, with the NCAA canceling fan attendance at its upcoming tournament games.

Crowds of more than 250 people in the Seattle area, as well as crowds of more than 1,000 in San Francisco, will become illegal, with the office of San Fransisco Mayor London Breed specifying that the ban applies to “social, spiritual, and recreational activities.”

“These include but are not limited to: community, civic, public, leisure, faith-based, or sporting events; parades; concerts; festivals; conventions; fundraisers and similar activities,” her office said.

There have been 1,238 cases of coronavirus and 36 resultant deaths reported across 40 US states so far.
