‘People running to the altar with no invitation’: Organizers of Tennessee revival hope for nationwide aftershock

(Worthy News) – A revival in eastern Tennessee that began last year with a young pastor’s decision to pray and fast for 30 days is expected to reach 100,000 people, and organizers are hoping it will lead to nationwide revival.
Barbi Franklin, an organizer for the Awaken Tennessee prayer and fasting initiative begun by pastor John Butler of the East Rogersville Baptist Church, said that while last year 400 churches signed on to pray and fast for revival with the pastor, this year over 1,000 churches have decided to participate.
“And because of what we have seen in other nations, particularly what we saw in the nation of Egypt back in 2010 and 2011, that really stirred up revival there and spread across their nation and now across the Middle East with millions of Muslims getting saved,” Franklin told CBN news.
Franklin had high hopes that a similar spread of Holy Spirit fire across the U.S. could happen as a result of Awaken Tennessee.
“I absolutely believe it could…inspire another Great Awakening,” she said.
