(Worthy News) – The US embassy in Baghdad was hit by at least one rocket Sunday evening, with Pentagon officials reporting no deaths or injuries and only damage to the dining hall.
According to one Iraqi leader, “unruly militias” connected to the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces were to blame for the missile attack, which saw several accompanying missiles fall inside Baghdad’s Green Zone but away from the US embassy.
“The security situation remains tense and Iranian-backed armed groups remain a threat. So, we remain vigilant,” said a State Department spokesperson.
Iran struck the Ain Al-Asad US airbase in Iraq following the death of Quds Force mastermind Qassem Soleimani at the beginning of January, causing over a dozen American soldiers to suffer head injuries the President nevertheless said were not “serious.”
