Iranian missile now thought to be the cause of downed Ukrainian jet

iran - worthy christian news(Worthy News) – Western officials are now leaning toward the conclusion that Iran shot down a Ukrainian passenger jet Wednesday that was leaving the airport in Tehran and bound for Kyiv.

Two U.S. officials said Thursday it was “highly likely” that either a stray or intentional Iranian anti-aircraft missile struck the jet, causing 176 passengers to perish, which interpretation President Trump also corroborated.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose country lost 63 nationals in the crash, said “the intelligence evidence suggests very clearly a [missile as the] possible and probable cause for the crash,” though he conceded it “may have been unintentional” on the part of the Iranian airforce.

President Trump announced Thursday that the US would further punish Iran economically by seeing that sanctions were “increased substantially,” as Iranian officials continued to send mixed messages about whether an attack on an American base in Iraq Wednesday was sufficient revenge for the killing of Soleimani.

Christianity is exploding in Iran, where local believers say that disillusionment with the utopian promises of the Islamic Revolution 40 years ago has increased the number of believers from a mere 100,000 in 1994 to over three million today.
