(Worthy News) – The US is anticipating a “major” reprisal from Iran within the next day or two, according to unnamed officials, as the three-day mourning period for fallen Iranian general Qassem Soleimani wraps up across the Islamic Republic.
An expected “tit-for-tat” move targeting American leaders and military minds of a comparable status to the Quds Force leader whom the US struck down Friday had the US positioning six B-52 bombers within striking distance from Iran in the Indian Ocean Tuesday.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper the day before denied reports that the US planned to withdraw its troops from Iraq in response to an Iraqi parliament decision that condemned the US strike within its borders at Baghdad International Airport.
Soleimani’s funeral headed toward its conclusion Tuesday after momentarily being delayed by a stampede that killed 40 people.
