(Worthy News) – Syrian regime forces and Iranian militias fired three missiles at the Conoco gas fields in Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria and six rockets were fired into the Green Zone in Baghdad that houses the US embassy Sunday as tensions flared across the region.
No injuries were reported in the Middle East, though three Americans–one soldier and two service contractors–were killed in a Somali Al Shabab terrorist attack on a US base in Kenya earlier in the day that seemed to be connected to Iranian threats.
After revealing the US currently had in its sights 52 targets of importance to Iranian culture and military morale on Saturday, US President Trump vowed Sunday he would strike back “in a disproportionate manner” for any further American casualties across the region.
An Omani diplomat in Iran was told over the weekend that Tehran was not interested in any detente with the US following the killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, and left the country without meeting with any Iranian officials.
US General and former CIA director David Petraeus called the killing of Soleimani Friday in a drone strike at the Baghdad International Airport “more significant than the killing of Osama bin Laden or even the death of al-Baghdadi.”
