Iran points to foreign conspiracy of Israel, US, Saudis behind fuel protests

(Worthy News) – Members of Iran’s Basij militia made interesting claims in the wake of nationwide protests against fuel hikes over the weekend.
In light of the ongoing struggle of the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia against the Iranian-backed Shi’ite bloc and its proxies across the Middle East, Brigadier General Salar Abnoosh of the paramilitary branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps claimed ostensible protests against fuel hikes were actually a color revolution.
Abnoosh insisted Thursday a “full-fledged world war against the system and the [Islamic] revolution” engineered by a “coalition of evil” consisting of “Zionists, America and Saudi Arabia” was to blame for demonstrations that saw gas stations burned, the internet cut, and up to 200 deaths, according to Amnesty International.
Protests began November 15 in response to austerity measures that raised the price of fuel by 50% enacted by the Iranian regime in an effort to curb the effects of Donald Trump’s sanctions, which have so far only increased the belligerence of the Islamic Republic and seen it disencumber its nuclear program.
Internet began to come back online Thursday after four days of what experts said was the first effective total blackout of its kind in modern history by an authoritarian regime.
