Netanyahu Expands Israeli Air Campaign Against Iran to Lebanon and Iraq

(Worthy News) – Israel widened its air campaign against Iran-backed targets across the Middle East over the weekend, pitting itself against Lebanese and Iraqi leaders who have hosted the proxies.

On Saturday, the Israeli Air Force carried out its most intense strike yet in Syria against the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Quds (Jerusalem) force, whom it said had been transporting drones to a base in Aqraba, Syria, for the purpose of launching strikes against Israel.

“Any country that allows its territory to be used for attacks against Israel will bear the consequences,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the day after.

On the same day, Israel made good on Netanyahu’s promise when one Israeli drone exploded and a second crashed into the propaganda offices of Hezbollah in Beirut, Lebanon, simultaneous to another airstrike that bombarded the Popular Mobilization Forces, an Iranian paramilitary in Iraq.

The strikes earned the ire of the Fatah Iraqi parliamentary coalition that represents the PMF as well as Lebanese President Michel Aoun, who on Monday both called the incursions a “declaration of war.”
