Pro-Life Group Permitted At Obama Inauguration

HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA (Worthy News) — A Christian conservative group in the United States has received permission to display a pro life vigil, which consists of 25 large signs showing the development of life from conception to birth, along the parade route during the Presidential Inauguration.
In a statement obtained by Worthy News Thursday, January 8, Christian Defense Coalition (CDC) said these are “critical moments after Barack Obama takes the oath as the 44th President of the United States.”
CDC Director Reverend Patrick J. Mahoney said his group wants to ensure that the “president drives by a visible reminder of those who will have no voice or rights in his administration. Those are the over 50,000,000 innocent lives that have been brutalized and lost through the violence of abortion.”
Mahoney added that, “While millions will be celebrating along the Inaugural Parade route, we will be speaking “truth to power” and calling justice and equality for all Americans.”
He stressed that President-elect Obama is on the “wrong side of history and human rights by embracing the most radical abortion policies of any President in American history.” The display, he said, would also serve as a “teaching moment for the new president in helping him understand that life begins at conception and that social justice begins in the womb.”
Other religious conservatives however have said Obama was prepared to reach out to them, saying he has chosen a pro-life pastor, who also opposes gay marriage, as a speaker at his inauguration.
EVANGELICAL PASTOR
Obama chose Rick Warren, the evangelical pastor of the Southern California megachurch Saddleback, to give the invocation when he takes office in January.
Yet Omaba has made clear he held views “absolutely contrary” to Warren on gay rights and abortion and described himself as “a fierce advocate for equality for gay and lesbian Americans.” The president-elect has denied promoting abortion, but says young women should have the right to make their own choices.
The CDC said it was pleased that National Park Service for issuing the permit “and embracing the First Amendment freedoms at the Inauguration.”
There will be also other pro life activist events surrounding the Inauguration, including the unveiling of a memorial remembering the ‘Roe v. Wade’ US Supreme Court ruling, which made it easier for women to receive an abortion.
