IDF taps military intel head as new chief of volatile Southern Command

(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday appointed a new head of its Southern Command, at a time of heightened tensions in the area which includes the volatile Gaza Strip front.
Maj. Gen. Herzl Halevi, who had served as head of military intelligence, will take the post, replacing Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir who held the position for almost three years.
Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot attended the ceremony in Beersheba at the Southern Command base, as did other members of the army’s General Staff. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]
