Could the United States be mentioned in Prophecy?
Could the United States be mentioned in Prophecy?
by George Whitten
With the events happening in the Middle East transpiring at an alarming rate, I am placed into a situation I care not to be in. As the editor of Worthy News, I am placed into a position where there is great responsibility given to me by the Lord. Worthy News is viewed by over 100,000 unique visitors a month. I can now understand the great responsibilities that pastors must take behind the pulpit, and the vast responsibility given to them by the Lord. The level of accountability given to them is so much higher. Of all the articles I have written from a faith perspective, I have steered away from that which is controversial. (The Prayer of a righteous man availeth much and The dangers of a lop sided message) The truth is controversial enough. But now I have come to a place where I am between a rock and a hard place. There’s passages like Ezekiel 33:6; But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. The reason for this message is so that I can remove this burden from off my shoulders. Remove the burden that I never sounded the trumpet and thus have blood required at my hands. I am by no means dogmatic about this interpretation, but rather present this article as something for believers to consider. 1 Corinthians 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. May time be the judge.
Job 33:14-17 ¶ For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
This passage in Job shows us that, in a vision or dream, God speaks twice, that there exists a two-fold message (a message within a message). When Jesus came to earth he spoke in parables, so that only those with eyes could see and ears could hear. Revelation or prophecies given by God have always been given in parabolic form. Daniel was a book that was said to be sealed until the time of the end. (Daniel 12:9) When did the book of Daniel become unsealed? Or has it become unsealed?
Now to look at the beast in Daniel 7. Daniel 7:1-2 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
We know from the onset that this is a dream and a vision. According to the passage in Job, there could be a dual fulfillment of this prophecy.
Daniel 7:3-4 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
Modern scholars state that the lion is the ancient kingdom of Babylon. The modern day country whose symbol is of a lion is England. England at one point was such a vast empire that it was said that “the sun never sets on the British Empire”. There are comparisons to be drawn between ancient Babylon and the British Empire. We know, according to Daniel, that Nebuchadnezzar was insane for a period of 7 years and ate like an oxen. The British Royal Family had a host of kings that modern day psychologists would call insane, the best known of which would be the exploits of King George III. Now out of the Lion came Eagles wings. The modern day country whose national symbol of the Eagle is the United States. We came out of England, fought the revolutionary war against England. We claimed independence from England and became a superpower.
Daniel 7:5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
Modern day scholars say the bear is the Medes and Persian empire. The modern day country whose national symbol is the bear is Russia. When the Medes and Persians came to seize power from Babylon and conquered the city, they came and killed Belshazzar and the royal family. When Lenin and Trotsky led the Bolshevik revolution in Russia the first thing they did was kill the Russian Czars and their families. Another similarity is that the Medes and Persians had seven kings. The collapse of the USSR occurred in the reign of their seventh premiere, Mikhail Gorbechev. This beast was to devour much flesh. In the reign of Darius, Daniel was thrown into the lions den because he would conform to the governmental worship. The Russian people suffered some of the worst persecution known to mankind under the reign of premieres like Stalin. Stalin killed more Jews than Hitler, yet this fact still escapes most of the known world. Christians during the era of the communists were slaughtered by the thousands, because of non-conformity to governmental standards.
Daniel 7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Modern day scholars say the leopard was the Grecian Empire under Alexander the Great. The modern day country whose national symbol of the leopard is Germany. Alexander the Great, when young, ruled for 12 years, and was conquering
the world in record time. Adolph Hitler ruled for 12 years as well, bringing forth the Blitzkreig (or “Lightning War”) that other countries feared. When Alexander the Great died, his empire was divided by 4 generals. When Hitler died, Germany was divided by 4 countries: The United States, England, France and Russia. Now after some time the Grecian empire was consumed and essentially made into two empires. The east and the west. Germany was divided in two; West Germany and East Germany represented two diverse Cold War empires: Nato and the Warsaw Pact. These were two distinct entities at work during the cold war era. In ancient days, eventually the West overcame the East. The Western Empire, Rome, became the dominating world empire. In 1989 when the Berlin Wall fell, the West overcame the East, as communism was falling all over the world.
Daniel 7:7-8 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
This empire has not risen to full power, but I believe that this is the United Nations. The United Nations has planned the division of the world into ten biospheres. This would be perhaps why there is so much recent talk of making Jerusalem a United Nations city, as the Pope has suggested. The internationalizing of the city of Jerusalem. This was unheard of before, because of the fact Israel, would not yield the soverignity of Jerusalem. But recent reports out of Israel suggest that there is strong support for this idea. Could the city of God of the Old Testament become the capital of the United Nations?
Now looking at the Beast in Revelation that comes out of the Water.
Revelation 13:1-2 ¶ And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
If this interpretation is correct, notice the beasts that form the final empire. The Leopard, Bear and the Lion. What is missing? The Eagle is missing.
Daniel 7:4a The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked,
The Eagle was plucked. When could this have happened? I believe the answer is in Ezekiel. Ezekiel 38 describes a vast war where a host of countries that attack Israel and Israel comes out victorious by the supernatural intervention of God.
Ezekiel 38:10-12 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
Could it be that at the same time, when these countries attack Israel, there is an attack on the US? Notice the language of the passage: The land was desolate at the time the prophecy was written, but is now inhabited at the time the prophecy is fulfilled. The land was filled with people gathered out of the nations. What country seems to fit this profile? The United States seems to fit this almost perfectly.
By reading you can understand my hesitancy in publishing this document, because of the extreme criticism that I probably would face. Who wants to hear that our country could be prophetically destroyed before the start of the tribulation? Yet the parallels of ancient empires to modern empires is staggering to say the least. I certainly did not want to bring this message, yet I publish this message to remove from off my shoulders the burden having any blood on my hands.
