Nigeria: Muslim Attempts to Seize Ministry Property
By Joseph DeCaro
(Worthy News) – A Nigerian Muslim who had previously destroyed part of a ministry facility has now filed suit to seize all of its property.
According to Morning Star News, after being charged with criminal trespass while damaging the facility, Mohammed Uduans then filed a civil suit against the pastor and president of Breadwinners International Christian Centre in the Kissayip area of Bassa, Plateau state.
Pastor Segun Towobola received a summons last month from the Area Court in Jebbu-Bassa requesting that he appear as a defendant in the suit whereby Uduans claims ownership of the Christian Centre. The court has also set a hearing for Dec. 17.
Breadwinners International had paid 500,000 naira (US$2,485) for the property in question; an existing building on the land was later modified to accommodate a worship hall with classrooms to teach vocational skills to underprivileged children.
Christians make up 51 percent of Nigeria’s population of 158.2 million, while Muslims account for 45 percent.
