Obama slights Israel, urges UN Palestinian vote

(Worthy News)– Branding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a war-minded pessimist, President Barack Obama is urging the United States to push for a United Nations vote to establish a Palestinian state, One News Now reported.

In a statement made to the Israel’s Channel 2 News, Obama stressed that the U.S. will likely shift away from its prior pro-Israeli foreign policy and no longer block a UN vote on the decades-old issue. The president stressed that it is difficult for him to continue blocking such a vote for Palestinian statehood as America has done in the past because he and others believe the Israelis are failing to negotiate in good faith — making it impossible for the sides to resolve the issue on their own.

“I think Prime Minister Netanyahu is somebody who’s predisposed to think of security first, to think perhaps that peace is naive; to see the worst possibilities as opposed to the best possibilities in Arab partners or Palestinian partners,” Obama expressed to the Israeli media, according to the Washington Post. –[wp_colorbox_media url=”http://www.onenewsnow.com/politics-govt/2015/06/06/obama-slights-israel-urges-un-palestinian-vote” type=”iframe” hyperlink=”Source”]
