Hindu Mob Attacks House Church Leader

MUMBAI (Worthy News)– A covert to Christianity who heads a home fellowship near Mumbai is suffering with chest and back injuries after about 25 Hindus beat him with wooden rods and iron bars on Jan. 24, according to Morning Star News.

After threatening the life of Pramod Sahu if he didn’t stop practicing his faith, members of the extremist Bajrang Dal attacked him at his workshop garage after Sahu refused their demand to worship a Hindu god.

Police initially declined to file a First Information Report, which delayed Sahu’s medical care, according to the Rev. Vijayesh Lal, national director of the Religious Liberty Commission of the Evangelical Fellowship of India.

“It was only when interventions were made by lawyers and Christian leaders that an FIR was finally registered on Jan. 29,” Lal said. “I spoke to Sahu while he was getting his treatment done at the private hospital, and he was in much fear. He complained that people who beat him up were continuously following him and watching him closely. He feared for his life.”

After filing the FIR, Sahu was promised police protection, but the officer assigned to guard his home left after only a few hours on duty.
