PARIS (Worthy News)– Police fanned out across France in search of three suspects: hooded gunmen who attacked satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo Wednesday and killed 12 people before escaping onto the streets of Paris, CNN reported.

The suspects behind the attack have been identified, Paris Deputy Mayor Patrick Klugman told CNN. Two of them are brothers.

A tactical unit was deployed in an operation about a 144 kilometers (about 90 miles) from Paris in Reims, France, following the attack, CNN affiliate BFMTV reported. Authorities haven’t revealed details about the target of the operation, but speculation surged in French media that investigators could be closing in on the suspects. –[wp_colorbox_media url=”http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/07/europe/france-satire-magazine-gunfire/index.html” type=”iframe” hyperlink=”Source”]

The country was put on the highest terrorist alert after one of its deadliest attacks since World War II, with protection extended to places of worship and media outlets. The assault was carried out by two masked men brandishing AK-47 Kalashnikov rifles, with at least one shouting “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is great” in Arabic. –[wp_colorbox_media url=”http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2015-01-07/shots-at-charlie-hebdo-weekly-in-paris-leave-six-injured.html” type=”iframe” hyperlink=”Source”]
