Despite ‘Reform,’ Iran’s non-Muslims Face prison, execution

According to a soon to be released UN report, Iran’s Islamic Republic has raided worship services, shut down licensed churches, arrested Christians and subjected converts to Christ to death threats and psychological abuse.

Fox News recently revealed that the 28-page report sharply contradicts President Hassan Rouhani’s claim that he has ushered in a new era of tolerance.

Before his June 2013 election, Rouhani promised that all ethnicities, religions and religious minorities would experience justice. But the UN report shows that due process wasn’t afforded religious and ethnic minorities, ranging from Sunni Arabs to Armenians.

Middle East analyst Meir Javedanfar said Rouhani lacks the will to bring human rights reform to Iran.

Javedanfar said that most Iranian clerics see Christianity as a threat that could undermine Iran’s revolution. As a result, Iran has arrested pastors holding services in Farsi, shut down Christian community websites and expelled Christian converts from Iranian universities.
