JERUSALEM (Worthy News)– A Catholic Archbishop ministering to Gaza’s Christian minority said Hamas had forced him to allow the use of his church to fire rockets at Israel during Operation Protective Edge, according to The Algemeiner.
“Islam is the rule of this place and whatever Hamas says we must obey, or face consequences,” Archbishop Alexios told The Christian Broadcasting Network.
Israeli UAVs have detected Hamas rocket crews using mosques, schools and hospitals as launch sites even though the use of civilian buildings for military purposes are against the Geneva Conventions.
Although Hamas has imposed strict Islamic laws on both Muslim and Christian alike, Alexios has allowed 2,000 Gazans to take refuge within his church compound during the fighting.
Hamas took control of Gaza after a violent coup ousted Fatah in 2007.
