(Times of Israel/Worthy News)– Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas chose a prime minister to head a unity government on Thursday but announcement of the lineup was held up over the foreign affairs portfolio, officials said.
Abbas sent a “letter of designation” to Rami Hamdallah, who is currently serving as premier within the West Bank-based government, an official in Ramallah said.
Hamas Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh said that a declaration on the forming of a new government could come in in coming hours or days, Israel Radio reported.
However, a Palestinian source cautioned that the move would only come if a dispute over who would hold the position of foreign minister is resolved.
